We live in an age of regulation and property legal services may well be the most overregulated area of all! Much of this stems from the desire by governments and authorities to attack sources of money-laundering and other criminal activity.
It is highly doubtful that governments of all colours have reached the right balance with much of the impact falling upon the man or woman in the street and not on those oligarchs or business people who appear to break the rules with temerity.
Almost everything that we do is impacted by regulations or rules of one sort of the other. The traditional claim by any lawyer was that “the client comes first”. In many ways, regrettably, that is no longer a claim that any lawyer can make validly.
